Dry season (May–October): consistent south-west swell, south-east trade winds that blow offshore at the west-facing breaks (Mawi, Are Guling right, Ekas) and get onshore by late morning at the others. Biggest, most consistent surf. Wet season (November–April): smaller, cleaner mornings with light winds, afternoon rain, the east-facing bays (Gerupuk, Tanjung Aan) come into their own. Both seasons work; the dry is the classic.
