Surfing Are Guling
Are Guling has two reef breaks reached by a short paddle or a cheap boat from the beach. The left on the east side is a long, workable wall on a mid to high tide; the right in the west corner is shorter and faster. Both like a moderate swell and light offshore or no wind, so mornings are best. Intermediate and up; the reef is shallow at low tide.
The bay
Calm, clear water on the inside for swimming and snorkelling, a couple of warungs and a car park on the sand. Bring reef booties if you are new to reef breaks.
